OCNE Leadership Development
To ensure the OCNE is able to sustain ongoing work around the state, a regular leadership development program has been implemented. To date, two Leadership workshops have been held. The first was designed to identify potential leaders around the state. Nursing Directors, key department heads, Nursing Deans and associate Deans in all partner institutions were invited.

The first workshop was designed to arm participants with resources and skills needed to be OCNE Champions with students and colleagues. Topics included:
  • Implementing OCNE: Challenges I face, Have Faced or Fear Facing
  • Sharing successes from OCNE Members
  • The leadership role as it relates to OCNE
  • Personal and Organizational transformation as it relates to OCNE
  • Skill building to handle tough issues and practices, responding to difficult situations with colleagues
  • Precision Networking
  • Arm participants with resources and skills needed

In 2008, the second workshop was able to build on the initial leadership work in 2007. Many participants were returning members and others were new reflecting the growth of OCNE and position changes in many of the parther schools. The second workshop focused on identifying where reality and OCNE Vision bump into each other. What issues need to be addressed. Topics included:

  • Vetting curriculum changes both locally and for OCNE as a whole
  • Providing OCNE information to students--helping a student through the decision processes to become clear about OCNE opportunities and possibilities
  • OCNE committee reports
  • Introduction of the new Clinical Education model and planning for formalizing across OCNE partner campuses and clinical agencies
