NRS 410A - 3 credits theory online*
*one full day intensive will be scheduled, usually held in Salem
NRS 410B - 6 credits clinical – in local region, preceptored by a CTA (clinical teaching associate) RN with OSHU clinical faculty facilitation. At least 64 hours will be on-site at clinical agency.Typically the student completes NRS 410A (theory) one term, and NRS 410B (clinical) the next term.
Course Outcomes and topics include the role of public health in the health of the community, identification of populations with health disparities, patterns of population-based health issues, and system issues in delivering care to at-risk populations.
Examples of online activities include asynchronous discussions, several short evidence-based papers and projects.
Clinical is more project-based than care-based, though is focused to a clinical site. Population based interventions such as community development, community education, advocacy, and policy development are explored. Population-based project is required.
